The integrated VGA camera does not have the resolution of the more expensive Sharp GX30, being only 350,000 pixel resolution, but it is still an excellent camera by comparison with other camera phones. It also has a video recorder capable of recording video clips with sound.
The screen is of excellent quality with 65k colours, and uses TFT technology for a bright vivid display that is clearly visible even in sunlight. The screen is physically large but the resolution is limited at 120 x 160 pixels, so not as sharp as the GX20 or GX30. However, in the entry-level camera phone class, this is one of the best screens available.
The user interface is icon-driven, intuitive and easy to use.
The GX15 comes with 40-voice polyphonic ringtones that are of very high quality and it supports Java™ applications, which means that games and other applications can be downloaded. The memory is quite limited at just 1.8 Mbytes, which is not a lot for storing video clips, photos, ringtones and games.
Finally, the GX15 has full Bluetooth™ wireless support. One of the disappointments of the GX30 was that the Bluetooth support was limited to connecting a wireless headset. The GX15 also allows Bluetooth communication with a PC and other Bluetooth phones. This enables you to transfer photos and videos to a compatible PC or laptop.
Inevitably the GX15 is going to be compared with the Sony Ericsson T630. The phones look similar, are almost exactly the same size and weight and have almost the same features. The GX15 does not have the smart looks of the T630, but it has all the features, with the addition of a video camera. Overall, this is an excellent value phone that offers video recording, full Bluetooth functionality (plus infrared and USB), an excellent screen and triband operation in a neat and lightweight package.
Reviewed by Georgia Charter from UK on 2nd Feb 2005 Oh my goodness! this phone is truly amazing! everything is excellant. It was a decent price for a more than decent phone. The only thing is I don't understand how to get the pictures onto the computer without using bluetooth or a USB. Anyway well done SHARP Rating:
Reviewed by Matt from UK on 2nd Feb 2005 This is a decnet phone. The battery length is fine, the sound is fone, the camera is fine, the screen size is nice and big, it has all the features except mp3. To get a phone with bluetooth, WAP, GPRS, etc. for the price you can is brilliant. On the downside the memory is fairly small - I have 50 pictures, 30 ringtones, 2 games and 7 (10 second) videos, and it almost full-up. Rating:
